Jonathon Jennings, SVSU Football

SpringHill Suites Cardinal Athlete of the Week

Jonathon Jennings (Columbus, Ohio / Westerville South HS), the junior starting quarterback on the SVSU football team, led the Cardinals in a record-breaking performance over Lake Erie College this past weekend, 51-24.

Jennings broke the SVSU school record for passing yards in a game with 511. Jeff Janis (Tawas, Mich.) also took down a school record as well as the GLIAC for receiving yards as he hauled in 12 catches for 300 yards.

Jennings connected on strikes of 58 yards to Michael Albrecht (Midland, Mich.), 36 yards to Deon Jobe (Grand Rapids, Mich. / East Grand Rapids HS) and 73 yards to Janis.

The previous SVSU pass and receiving yard marks were set in 2003 by former Cardinal standouts Mark Radlinski (431 yards passing) and Glenn Martinez (234 yards receiving) against Ferris State.

The Cardinals will return to action at home this Saturday (Sept. 29) when they host Ferris State for Homecoming and Drapers First Responders Night.
