Mason Motte - Men's Golf
Mason Motte (Jeddo, Mich./Rochester College) recorded an individual top five finish and led the Cardinals to a fourth-place result last weekend with his solid performance at the SVSU Spring Invitational in Georgetown, Ky.
Motte was slotted as the No. 3 golfer for SVSU for the weekend and delivered in a big way. The junior finished round one on Friday with an even-par 72, tying for third place overall. He would continue to provide a strong performance for the Cardinals, who entered the second round of play with an cumulative score of 303, ranking sixth. Mason followed up an even-par 72 score on Friday with a one-over-par 73 on Saturday, bringing his two day score to 145.
His score of 145 was tied for fifth at the invitational and was the lowest score posted by any Cardinal for the weekend. SVSU went on to finish in fourth place as a team, tying with Ferris State with a two-way total of 598.
SVSU will return to the course next weekend as the Men's team travels to Lexington, Ky. for the start of the GLIAC South Invitational. The conference tournament will take place on Monday, Mar. 27 and Tuesday, Mar. 28 at the Andover Country Club.
Sabrina Coffman - Women's Golf
Sabrina Coffman (Toledo, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) recorded a top-20 finish and posted the lowest individual score for the Cardinals as well at the SVSU Spring Invitational last weekend in Georgetown, Ky.
Coffman was slotted as SVSU's No. 1 golfer for the two-day tournament and carried the lowest overall score for day one. She finished the round with a score of 81, placing her within the top ten individual scores for the day. The Cardinals also ended up in the top ten as a team on Friday by posting a cumulative score of 342. She would complete the Invitational on Saturday with a score of 83 for a two-day total of 164 and tying for 18th in the tournament.
The Cardinals finished the Invitational in seventh place overall with a total score of 669.
SVSU will return to the course next weekend as the Women's team travels to Perry Park, Ky. for the start of NCAA Regionals. The Cardinals will tee off on Saturday, March 25 from the Perry Park Golf Resort and will finish out their rounds on Sunday, March 26.
