Meemic Insurance Student-Athlete Spotlight Feature - Tom Goforth | SVSU XC / Track & Field Student-Athlete
Our most recent edition of the Meemic Insurance Student-Athlete Spotlight, we highlight cross country and track & field student-athlete, Tom Goforth. Goforth has been a leading charge for the SVSU cross country and track & field teams, currently competing in his junior season.
Goforth led the Cardinal men's cross country team to a berth in the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championships in the fall, as the team sealed a bid with a third place finish at the Midwest Regional Championships after falling just a single point shy in 2015. The men finished 10th overall in the nation and Goforth earned all-american honors after finishing 30th in the race of 219 participants.
The success has been similar as Tom has begun the 2017 indoor track & field season, as he recently broke the school indoor record for the 3,000 meter run at the SVSU-hosted Jet's Pizza Invitational on January 28.
SVSU Men's Cross Country Coach Jason Hartmann on Tom Goforth...
"Tom has worked extremely hard to grow into the athlete he is today. He didn't get there by going through the motions, but rather pushing himself in training and races. Now, you see the fruits of that labor in the amount of success he is having as a Cardinal student-athlete."
