BROOKFIELD, Ill. - The Don Hansen Football Committee has released the 2016 Don Hansen NCAA Division II AllSuper Region Four squad on Tuesday (Jan. 17). SVSU senior Matt McKoy was listed as a member of the First Team Defense at the safety position.

McKoy, the AP Little All-American, AFCA Second Team All-American and D2CCA All-Super Region Four First Teamer, also earned GLIAC Defensive Back of the Year honors in 2016. He rounded-out his SVSU career by leading the league with five interceptions, taking one back for a touchdown. He also forced two fumbles, recovering another and taking that back for a score. He totaled 76 tackles from the defensive backfield, averaging 8.4 per contest despite playing just one series in the ninth game and missing the 10th and final contest.

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988. Don Hansen's Football Gazette began selecting Division II All-Region squads in 2003. The first-team and second-team All-Region selections advance to a national ballot from which the 2016 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America team will be named later this month.
