TIFFIN, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State
Cardinal men’s basketball team got their first victory of the
season with ease tonight (Dec. 18) against Tiffin University,
72-53.
The Cardinals were led on offense by senior guard Dante Williams
(Romulus, Mich./East Tenn. State University) who scored a game-high
22 points, freshman point guard Greg Foster (Indianapolis,
Ind./T.C. Howe HS) knocked down 21 points and senior guard Lawrence
Ross (Battle Creek, Mich./Miami University of Ohio) sank 6-of-11
from the floor for 17 points.
Junior guard Avery Stephenson (Romulus, Mich./Univ. of
Nebraska-Kearney) pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds.
The Cardinals shot 43 percent from the field, and dropped in
18-of-25 from the foul line.
The win gives the Cardinals an overall record of 1-5, and 1-3 in
the GLIAC, while Tiffin falls to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the GLIAC.
SVSU will look to take the momentum from tonight’s win into
their next match against Ashland University at 3 p.m. Saturday
(Dec. 20) in Ashland, Ohio.
