Cardinals Sit in Ninth After First Day of GLIAC Championships

NASHPORT, Ohio - The SVSU men's golf team competed in the opening round of the 2016 GLIAC Men's Golf Championships, held at the Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. The Cardinals had three players shoot in the 70's after the first 18 holes of play and sit in ninth place after an opening round of 311 (+23).

Saginaw Valley is a single shot behind eighth place Ferris State. Tiffin and Malone lead after round one with 10-over par scores of 298.

Mason Motte paced the Cards with an opening score of 76 (+4). Not far behind was Ryan Peruski, who carded a 77 (+5). Tommy Prato finished up with a first round score of 78 (+6). Dustin Pumford had an 80 (+8) to round-out scoring for the day. 

Motte is tied for 18th overall while Peruski and Prato sit in ties for 22nd and 33rd, respectively. Pumford is in a tie for 45th overall.

Saginaw Valley returns to the course on Saturday (Apr. 16) looking to improve its position in the championship event.
