Cardinals sit in third after opening round at NCAA Midwest Fall Regional

CHICAGO, Ill. - The SVSU men's golf team sits in third place after posting an opening round score of 311 at the year's first NCAA Midwest regional tournament. The Cardinals sit just a single stroke behind second place Wayne State and four off the pace of first round leader Missouri-St. Louis. 

Jared Lyons had the low round for SV and sits in a tie for sixth place after an opening score of 75 (+3). Teammate Austin Carter was just behind, carding a four-over score of 76 after the first 18 holes of play. He sits in a tie for 13th place.

Ryan Peruski and Mason Motte each shot rounds of 80 (+8) to round-out the team's scoring for the day. Michael Hansen had an 81 as well as the Cardinals played on the par 72, 6,956 yard Port Course in tough, high wind conditions.

Saginaw Valley is back in action on Tuesday (Sep. 27), as the Cards will play the Starboard Course with a 9:35 a.m. shotgun start.
