TIFFIN, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team wrapped-up play for the weekend with a runner-up finish at the 2016 Kyle Ryman Memorial Tournament, hosted by Tiffin University at the Mowhawk Golf and Country Club.
The Cardinals followed a record day after 36 holes on Saturday with a 298 for the final 18 holes, closing out play with a seven-over par total score of 871. SV finished six strokes off the pace of tournament winner Ferris State University.
Austin Carter tied for the team low round on Sunday, carding a two-over par score of 74. He shot rounds of 71-70-74 to tie for fourth place with a 215 (-1).
Mason Motte had a 74 in the final round as well, as he tied for 24th overall with a final count of 73-75-74 (222, +6). Dustin Pumford finished tied for 24th as well, as he posted scores of 72-75-75 over the weekend for the 222 (+6).
Jared Lyons shot a 75 on Sunday as well, finishing off play with rounds of 71-75-75 for a five-over tally of 221.
Ryan Peruski, after a phenomenal first day that included a 66, had a 76 on day two to finish with a one-under total of 215. He tied for fourth place overall with Carter for the weekend.
The Cardinals are off until Sunday, October 16, when the men travel to play in the Wayne State Invitational. The event is hosted by the Warriors on the 16th and 17th at the TPC Michigan course in Dearborn, Michigan.
