UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The SVSU men's soccer team extended its winning streak to a program-best eight matches on Wednesday (Oct. 12) in a shutout victory. The team scored four second half goals and played solid defense throughout to down the University of Findlay Oilers, 4-0 in GLIAC action.

The match started with slow tempo and plenty of possession by both teams. Defense would be the key in the first half for SVSU.The Cardinals limited the Oilers to just two shots in the half and held the Oilers scoreless.

Despite the Cardinals eight shots in the first frame, the match remained a scoreless tie heading into the halftime break.

SVSU started the second half on the offensive attack and was able to strike quickly.

Forward Griffin Parks scored his second goal of the season after receiving a cross from Matt Wilson just outside the six-yard box. The 50th minute tally gave SVSU an early 1-0 lead. The goal scoring would continue for SVSU as play continued.

SVSU's Tobee Oyeleye struck the ball past the goalkeeper just two minutes later to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead. He was set up off a fine pass from Andrew Dalou.

The offensive barrage continued in the 60th minute, thanks to a Wilson goal off a Parks feed, pushing SVSU's lead to 3-0. Wilson scored his 10th goal of the season on the play.

The Cardinals added one more goal from Louis Barrow on a chip shot in the 74th minute that made the count to 4-0 and sealed the victory for the Cardinals. Alberto Gangutia was credited with the assist on the score.

SVSU would hold Findlay off the scoreboard and secure the 4-0 shutout victory at home.
