LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Saginaw Valley State University Softball Head Coach Todd Buckingham has been selected to be a board member for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). The official appointment for Buckingham will begin on January 1, 2018, where he will be serving as the VP of Membership.
It will be the fourth duty that Buckingham currently has serving the NFCA, currently holding position on the Education and Publications Committee, Division II Top 25 Committee and Division II Head Coaches Committee.
"It's a tremendous honor to be elected by your peers to such a prestigious position," stated Buckingham. "Being the only D2 coach on the Board of Directors is humbling and exciting. I know as VP of Membership, I have a big responsibility to ensure the continued growth of the NFCA across all levels of our game. I am really looking forward to serving the NFCA in this capacity."
Buckingham, who will be entering his sixth season leading the Cardinals, has racked-up an impressive 144-85 record in leading the team. Saginaw Valley has posted over 30 wins the past three seasons, including a 2017 campaign in which the team claimed the GLIAC Tournament Championship and made a run to the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional #2 Finals.
The Cards open the 2018 spring season on the road in the Midwest Regional Crossover, where they will play six regional games in Evansville, Indiana to kick-off a stretch of 19 straight regional matchups before opening GLIAC play.
