BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The SVSU swimming & diving squad had a few competitors in Friday's third day of the 2017 NCAA Division II National Championships in Birmingham, Alabama. The Cardinal women sit 25th overall after collecting 21 points so far for the weekend.
Amanda Thielen posted a time of 55.60 seconds in the prelims of the 100 backstroke, finishing 11th and sealing a spot in the consolation finals of the event. She notched a time of 56.64 in the finals, finishing 14th overall and collecting three points for the Cardinals.
Lydia Mattar competed in the 100 breaststroke for SVSU, finishing 26th overall with her time of 1:03.88.
Shaun Yap was a participant in the 100 breaststroke on the men's side. He narrowly missed out on the consolation finals, finishing 17th with his time of 55.04 seconds.
The final day's schedule for the Cardinals features Mattar competing in the 200 breaststroke, Thielen swimming in the 200 backstroke and the 400 freestyle relay team competing as well.
