Two Women's Tennis Student-Athletes Earn All-GLIAC Recognition

BAY CITY, Mich. - Two members of the Saginaw Valley State University women's tennis team were honored by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for their performances throughout the 2013 season.

Izabella Ismailova (Almaty, Kazakhstan/Military College of Sport), a freshman on this year's team, was named to the All-GLIAC First Team.  Ismailova posted an 8-7 overall record while competing at the #1 singles position for the Cardinals.  She competed at #1 and #2 doubles as well, compiling an overall record of 7-8 in doubles action.  Izabella defeated the #14 and #5 ranked players at the 2013 ITA Regional Tournament en-route to a semifinals appearance, where she bowed-out to the tournament's #3 seed.

Meghan Woody (Midland, Mich./Dow HS), a junior on the team, received All-GLIAC Honorable Mention honors.  Woody competed at #2 singles for Saginaw Valley, notching a 7-8 overall record against her opponents.  She played both #1 and #2 doubles as well, going 7-8.  

The SVSU women's tennis team has completed the fall portion of its schedule and will be off until March.
