Mike Saunders (Mt. Morris, E.A. Johnson HS), a senior starting pitcher on the SVSU Baseball team, helped the Cardinals to victory over rival Grand Valley in the first game of the weekend series.
Mike Saunders picked up the win on the mound for the Cardinals over Grand Valley with a complete game shutout, his fourth of the season. Saunders scattered four hits while striking out ten Lakers to improve to 4-1 on the season with a 1.59 ERA.
Saunders now leads the team in ERA and strikeouts with 35. He also possess the second best ERA in the conference, while ranking sixth in strikeouts.
The Cardinals are currently tied for second in the GLIAC and will be on the road this week against Alma, Wayne State and Ashland.
