UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - A handful of Saginaw
Valley State men’s track athletes have proven themselves
worthy of the chance to bring an NCAA Championship to Cardinal
Country this season.
Senior Elarto Hooper (Ypsilanti, Mich.) is the 3rd seed in the
high jump after he leaped 2.17 meters, only .09 meters off the high
mark of 2.26 meters. Hooper also is the 6th seed in the men’s
triple jump, with a distance of 15.25 meters.
In the 800 meter run, senior Charlie Richards (Goodrich, Mich.)
qualified as the 16th seed with a time of 1:52.23
In the 110 meter hurdles, senior Sam Tilmon (Romulus, Mich.) also
qualified as the 16th seed with a time of 14.56.
Junior Jesse Evans has qualified in the 3000 meter steeplechase in
the 13th position with a time of 9:14.20.
Junior Josh Koglin (Kimball, Mich.) has qualified in the hammer
throw as the 11th seed with a distance of 58.17 meters.
The championships are scheduled for May 21 in San Angelo, Texas.
