Scott Stanford (Novi, Mich.), freshman kicker on the SVSU Football team, helped the Cardinals to victory by kicking three field goals in the 44-41 overtime victory over Michigan Tech. Stanford's first kick was a career long 45-yard field goal at the end of the first half. The true freshman added a key 20-yarder to put the Cardinals ahead 41-38 late in the final minute of play. After Tech failed to convert their overtime possession into points, Stanford once again came through in the clutch with a game-winning 23-yard field goal to give the Cardinals the 44-41 victory.
