Robert Atwater - Men's Track & Field
Robert Atwater (Detroit, Mich. / Lincoln Park HS) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships in both the long jump and the high jump during last Saturday's SVSU Classic. Atwater took first in the long jump with a distance of 7.16 meters and in the high jump crossing the bar at a height of 2.08 meters. He also finished third in pole vault, with a final height of 4.41 meters.
Atwater ranks first in the GLIAC and sixth nationally in the NCAA Division II in the high jump at 2.11 meters, which he recorded at the SVSU Holiday Classic. He also ranks fourth in the GLIAC and thirteenth nationally in the long jump after his performance at the SVSU Classic.
Emerald Joiner - Women's Track & Field
Emerald Joiner (Saginaw, Mich. / Arthur Hill HS) finished third and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships in the women's weight throw with a final distance of 16.42 meters. Joiner also provisionally qualified for the NCAA championships and took first place in the shot put event, throwing 13.89 meters.
After her performance on Saturday, Joiner is ranked fifth in the GLIAC and tenth nationally in shot put. In the weight throw, she is ranked fifteenth in the GLIAC and thirty-second nationally.
