Tyler Channell - Men's Soccer
Tyler Channell (Troy, Mich. / Athens HS) earned GLIAC Player of the Week honors for the second straight week after scoring a pair of goals for the Cardinals over the weekend. He had the game-winner in the team's 2-1 victory over #16 Northwood and added another score in the team's 2-1 loss to Marygrove
SVSU continues play at home on Friday against Malone at 3:30 pm and Walsh on Sunday at 2:30 pm.
Andrea Brigham - Volleyball
Andrea Brigham (Concord, Mich. / Concord HS), helped lead the Cardinals to sweep their second invitational of the season 4-0, bringing the team to an overall unbeaten record of 8-0.
Brigham led the team in total attacks in their first match of the invitational against Bridgeport, posting 37 in total. She went on to lead the second match against Clarion in both kills (17) and attacks (30).
On day two of the invitational, Brigham tied for most blocks (4) and made eight digs and nine kills in the first match against invitational host California (Pa.). In the last match of the invitational against Truman she finished strong, posting a season high for Saginaw Valley of 25 kills. Brigham also contributed 16 digs and 64 total attacks.
Saginaw Valley (8-0) takes its unblemished record into play next weekend, traveling to play #13 Ferris State University Friday (Sep. 18) at 7:00 p.m. before continuing to play #8 Grand Valley State University Saturday (Sep. 19) at 4:00 p.m.
