Malik Washington - Football
Malik Washington (Detroit, Mich. / Oak Park HS) led the Cardinals in running yards and touchdowns last Saturday (Oct. 17) at SVSU's homecoming game against Lake Erie College. Washington scored his first two career touchdowns, helping Saginaw Valley win by a score of 37-34. The sophomore also recorded a personal best in running yards with 107.
Saginaw Valley plays at Northwood for the 41st-annual Axe Bowl Game on Saturday, October 24 at 1:00 pm.
Amanda Thielen - Women's Swimming & Diving
Amanda Thielen (Fenton, Mich. / Hartland HS) posted two program records for SVSU at last Saturday's meet at Tiffin University. In the 1,000 yard freestyle, Thielen posted a 10:45.70 and as a part of the 400 yard medley team, a 58.76 in the 100 yard backstroke. She also helped the 400 yard freestyle relay take first place, and finished first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:15.16.
Swimming and Diving will compete at home in the Gerstacker Regional Aquatic Center this Saturday, October 24, against Urbana at 2:00 pm.
