UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University senior designated hitter Charlie Thomas (Northville, Mich.) was named to the 2010 National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA) Midwest Region First Team.
Thomas posted a .360 batting average this year, including six home runs, 12 doubles, 34 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He finishes his career in a Cardinal uniform in eighth place in career batting average (.352) and in seventh place for career doubles (42).
Senior infielder Kevin Dore (Kawkawlin, Mich./Muskegon CC) was named to the NCBWA Midwest Region Second Team. Dore led the Cardinals in hitting (.406) in the 2010 season for the second year in a row. He also led the team in at-bats (160), runs (45), hits (65), triples (3) and walks (22) on the season, and was an integral part of the Cardinals leading the nation in double plays per game, turning 1.16 per contest.
Both Thomas and Dore were selected to the 2010 All-GLIAC First Team in their senior campaigns, as Thomas was a second team selection in 2009.
