UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University baseball's Aaron Bess (Boyne City, Mich. / Boyne City HS) was named GLIAC Player of the Week on Monday.
Bess dominated against Purdue Northwest leading the team in a 3-1 series victory. The Boyne City, Michigan native hit .563 (9-for-16) with four doubles and a home run. He scored 10 runs and drove in five as he slugged 1.000 and had an on-base percentage of .619 after drawing three walks and getting hit by a pitch. The senior outfielder had an OPS of 1.619 and was a perfect 6-6 on stolen base attempts proving to be a speed and power threat. Bess is riding a seven-game hitting streak and was on base multiple times in all four games over the weekend, including two three-hit performances.
This is Bess' first GLIAC Player of the Week honor of his career and the second for SVSU baseball this season.
The Cardinals are at home for the first time this year, hosting Parkside for a four-game series starting Friday, March 27.
