Golf Finishes Tied For Fourth In 2009 GLIAC Championships

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men’s golf team finished in a tie for fourth place at the 2009 GLIAC Men’s Golf Championships, held on the Greywalls Course at the Marquette Golf Club. The Cardinals finished with a three-round score of +56 to finished in a deadlock with Ferris State University. Grand Valley State University claimed the 2009 title with a team total of 29-over par, 20 strokes ahead of tourney runner-up University of Findlay.

SVSU was led by Dieter Schulz (+14), Nate Kelly (+15) and Rob Ronk (+16) individually, who finished in 12th, 13th and 14th places, respectively. Brian King took 19th with a score of +19 and John Lange rounded-out Saginaw’s golfers with a finish of 24-over. Eric Lilleboe of Ferris State University claimed medalist honors for the tournament with a -4 finish in the three day event.

The Cardinals are in action again October 10-11 in Grosse Isle, Mich., where they will take part in the Motor City Invitational.
