BATH, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team traveled to Eagle Eye Golf Club to compete in the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships, taking place October 5-7.
After the first day of competition, the Cardinals sit in fourth place overall in the event. SVSU shot a 300 (+12) and are just seven strokes back of overall leader Malone.
Junior Wyatt Drost (Charlevoix, Mich.) holds the overall tournament lead after firing a two-under 70 on day #1. He was one of only two players under par on the day.
Junior Micah Skidmore (Saginaw, Mich.) posted a round of 74 (+2). He is currently in a tie for ninth place in the tournament.
Senior Eric Gandy (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek) and junior Carter Marsh (Cadillac, Mich.) rounded-out the scoring for SVSU. Gandy had a +4 76 while Marsh shot an 80 (+8).
Day two of the event will commence Sunday at 10:00 am, weather and frost permitting. SVSU golfers are slated to begin teeing-off at 12:42 pm.
