BATH, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University junior golfer Wyatt Drost (Charlevoix, Mich.) claimed individual medalist honors at the 2013 GLIAC Men's Golf Championships at the Eagle Eye Golf Club.
Drost shot a 219 total (70-78-71, +3) to win the event by one stroke over Ohio Dominican's Nick Reardon.
Drost led the Cardinals to a fourth-place finish in the championship event. SVSU finished with a team total of 916 (300-307-309, +52). Malone University claimed the team championship, as the Pioneers shot a three-day total of 903, defeating Ashland and Ohio Dominican by just a single stroke.
Junior Micah Skidmore (Saginaw, Mich.) was the next best finisher for Saginaw Valley. Skidmore totaled a 228 (74-74-80, +12) to tie for 15th place.
Eric Gandy (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek), a senior on the team, finished in a tie for 35th place with a three-day total of 234 (76-78-80, +18).
Senior Adam Hansen (Bay City, Mich./Western) tied for 45th with a 238 (83-77-78, +22) while junior Carter Marsh (Cadillac, Mich.) ended-up in a tie for 59th after shooting a 247 (80-84-83, +31).
The GLIAC championships finished the fall portion of the Cardinals' 2013-14 schedule. SVSU opens its spring slate of events when it goes on its spring trip March 1-8 in Pinehurst, N.C.
