FLORENCE, Ky. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team posted a 10-stroke improvement on day two at the SVSU Spring Invitational to advance two spots and finish in 5th place overall. The Cardinal-hosted tournament was played at the Par 72, 6,742 yard Boone Links Golf Course in Florence, Kentucky.
After posting a 314 on the first day of competition, SVSU carded a 304 on Sunday to round-out the weekend with a score of 618.
The score was five strokes behind fourth place Wayne State University. Grand Valley State University won the event with a two day total of 600.
Wyatt Drost bounced-back from a first day score of 81 to shoot the low round on Sunday with a 70. He finished with a score of 151 (+7) and tied for 10th place.
Carter Marsh matched his first round score of 78 on day two, finishing tied for 25th with a total of 156 (+12).
Micah Skidmore went 78-79 (157, +13) on the weekend to finish in a tie for 29th. Teammate Eric Gandy (80-77, +13) was one of those tied with Skidmore. Adam Hansen tied for 36th place with a total score of 159 (78-81).
The Cardinals are set to return to the links Sunday (Mar. 30) at the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational, which will be played at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Ind.
