NASHPORT, Ohio - The SVSU men's golf team traveled to compete in the 2015 GLIAC Spring Invitational, hosted at the Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. The Cardinals posted a first round 306 (+18) and are in sixth place after day one.
Saginaw Valley sits two strokes behind Ashland University while Grand Valley State University shot a 295 (+7) and leads the event.
Sophomore Ryan Peruski had the low round of the day for the Cards, shooting a 73 (+1). He sits in a tie for fifth place after the first day of competition.
Senior Micah Skidmore is tied for 20th after carding a first round score of 76 (+4). Fellow senior Wyatt Drost shot a 77 (+5) and is tied for 28th while senior Carter Marsh had an 80 (+8) to round-out the team's scoring in the 55th position overall. Senior Jeremy Schultz also competed for SVSU, shooting a first round 83 (+11).
The Cardinals return to the course on Sunday (Apr. 19), looking to make a second day charge up the leaderboard in Ohio. The round begins at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start that will be followed by an awards lunch.
