BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team opened play at the GLIAC Championships on Friday at Bedford Valley Golf Course. The Cardinals sit in fourth place out of 10 teams after posting a team score of 288 (E).
Shea Harmeson leads the Cardinals, currently ninth out of 50 golfers, after carding a 70 (-2). Harmeson, Thomas Keyte, and Evan Klein each recorded four birdies on the day. Jiseung Choi followed with an even-par 72, tying for 12th place. Keyte and Klein rounded out the team scoring, both shooting 73 (+1) to tie for 17th place. Dominic DeLaura completed the team lineup with a round of 76 (+4).
As a team, SVSU ranked tied for sixth on par threes with an average of 3.20 strokes per hole, fifth on par fours with an average of 4.18, and first on par fives, averaging 4.55 strokes per hole. The Cardinals were nine-under-par on par fives as a team. They also tied for fourth in birdies with 17 and ranked fourth in pars with 53. SVSU was middle of the pack with 19 bogeys — four behind the fewest — and tied for the fewest double bogeys or worse, with just one.
