Cardinals Add Segebart to Men's Soccer Coaching Staff

UNIVERSITY CENTER - Saginaw Valley State University Head Men's Soccer Coach Cale Wassermann has announced the hiring of Kyle Segebart as the program's Assistant Coach.  Segebart brings to the program a wealth of experience, both playing and coaching, and looks to assist in the continued rise of the Cardinal men's program.

Segebart comes to SVSU from Division III Franklin College, where served as the Grizzlies' Assistant Coach / Recruiting Coordinator.  While at Franklin, he served as the Assistant Coach of the Indiana Fire as well, a USSF Development Academy.

While working with SVSU, Segebart will also be serving as the Waza FC U8 Boys Coach in Saginaw, Mich.

"I am very excited to be given this opportunity to coach within the SVSU Men's Soccer Program," stated Segebart.  "I truly believe this team has limitless potential!  I look forward to working tirelessly with the players and staff to reach our goal of winning a national championship."

Segebart has coached in New Zealand and various collegiate levels throughout the United States, and played professionally in New Zealand's premier soccer league.

Segebart has coached at the Olé Football Academy in Wellington, New Zealand. As the Assistant Coach he mentored and coached some of New Zealand's elite players, including five players that were selected to the New Zealand Under-17 and Under-20 National Teams. Kyle held the position of Head Coach of the Under-13 Elite Academy Program at Olé and was an Assistant Coach for Island Bay United AFC men's amateur team, which competed in Capital Football's Premier League.

No stranger to the Midwest, Segebart spent the 2011 season as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at the University of Dayton where he coordinated game-day operations, practice sessions and helped with the program's video editing software.

In 2010, Segebart was an Assistant Coach at Midland University (Nebraska), working primarily with goalkeepers and helping the program recruit international players.

Segebart played three seasons professionally, most recently for Team Wellington in New Zealand's top domestic league, the ASB Premiership. In 2010-11 he played for the Dayton Dutch Lions FC of the USL Pro. While in college, Segebart played four seasons in the PDL with the Cincinnati Kings, Mississippi Brilla FC and Cascade Surge.

A graduate from Cedarville University, Segebart holds a BA in Sports Management with minors in Business and Bible. Segebart also currently holds a USSF "B" License from the United States Soccer Federation.

"We are extremely excited to have Kyle joining the staff here at SVSU," stated Wassermann.  "He brings a wealth of soccer knowledge and his experiences playing and coaching will be a tremendous asset to our players and program. In the week he has been here, we have already seen him have the positive impact that we were looking for in our Assistant Coach position."
