KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Four Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer student-athletes were named to the 2014 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Men's All-Midwest Region Team on Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 10).
Senior Craig Neal was named to the All-Midwest Region First Team while fellow senior Zach Vasold and junior Tyler Channell garnered second team honors. Freshman Aleksandar Isaevski also earned recognition for his play this season and was named to the third team.
Neal had an outstanding season to round-out his career in a Cardinal uniform. He posted a team-high nine goals, adding seven assists for a team-best 25 points. Four of his nine goals were of the game-winning variety for the Cardinals. The nine goals were second-best in the GLIAC and seven assists second only to teammate Alexandar Isaevski's nine. The 25 points were also second-best in the league. He was named to the Daktronics All-Midwest Region First Team and Academic All-America Third Team as well. Neal was earlier named to the 2014 All-GLIAC First Team.
Vasold earned First Team All-GLIAC recognition in addition to the NSCAA All-Midwest Region honors for the 2014 season, one in which the midfielder chipped-in with a goal and two assists for four total points.
Channell had a solid 2014 campaign after missing the team's first five matches due to injury. He had six goals and six assists, totaling 18 points for the Cards. He was named to the 2014 All-GLIAC Second Team as well for his efforts.
Isaevski had a breakout freshman campaign for the Cardinals in their run to the NCAA Division II Round of 16 for the second time in three years. He tallied four goals and a GLIAC-leading nine assists from the back-mid position for SVSU. Isaevski earned All-GLIAC Honorable Mention accoladed for the 2014 season.
