Ryan Bovee Earns GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer's Ryan Bovee (Clarkston, Mich. /  Clarkston HS) was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. The Cardinals defeated Davenport 2-0 and St. Cloud State 2-0 to win the GLIAC Regular Season championship.

The senior midfielder led the defense as the team outshot Davenport 38-4 and in a tightly contest match, was outshot 8-7 against St. Cloud State. The Cardinals midfield and defenders stopped the counterattack allowing the offense to outshoot their opponents 45-12 and led in shots on goal 17-5. SVSU posted their seventh and eighth clean sheets of the season.

This is Bovee's first GLIAC Player of the Week honor of his career and the seventh for men's soccer this season.

Men's soccer hosts the GLIAC Tournament semifinals and finals in a couple weeks. SVSU plays at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 14 against the winner of Parkside and Davenport. The other semifinal match is set at 2:00 PM with the championship on Sunday, November 16 at 1:00 PM.
