UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University swimming and diving student-athlete Lexi Hieber was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America® Third Team, highlighting a group of six Cardinals who also earned CSC Academic All-District® honors.
Hieber was joined on the women's Academic All-District® team by Ella Yantz and Samantha Fowler, while Isaac deVries, Parker Beebee, and Rory Kauffman represented the Cardinals on the men's side.
The CSC Academic All-District® and Academic All-America® programs recognize student-athletes for their combined excellence in the classroom and competition. To qualify, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, compete in 75 percent of their team's competitions or meet postseason criteria, and hold a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
Three of SVSU's honorees competed at the NCAA Division II Championships, with Hieber, Fowler, and Kauffman representing the Cardinals on the national stage. Hieber delivered a historic performance, earning four All-America finishes, including a seventh-place result—the highest in program history. Fowler also competed as part of the 800-yard freestyle relay team that placed 12th.
Hieber caps her standout season as a GLIAC champion in the 1650-yard freestyle, a four-time All-American, and a GLIAC Winter Commissioner's Award recipient, adding CSC Academic All-America® Third Team honors to her list of achievements.
