SVSU Women’s Track and Field Team/Cross Country Finishes in USTFCCCA Program of the Year Standings For Second-Straight Season

NEW ORLEANS – The Saginaw Valley State University women's track and field/cross country team placed 11th in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USFTCCCA) NCAA Division II Program of the Year standings on Tuesday afternoon.

The USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award honors the institution that has achieved the most success in each academic year based on the finish at the NCAA Championships.

In order to be eligible for the award, teams must qualify for each of the NCAA Championships. Scoring is based on the team's finish at the cross country, indoor, and outdoor championships with the lowest total score for all three determining the winner.

Saginaw Valley had 21 points in cross country, 47.5 for indoor, and 11.5 for outdoor to achieve the final tally of 80 points. SVSU gained 5.5 points less than 12th-place Minnesota Duluth.

The Cardinals made the final standings for the second-consecutive season, the third time overall since 2011. SVSU was sixth last year (2022) and placed ninth in 2012.
