NEW ORLEANS – Saginaw Valley State University track and field assistant coach Ciera Weber was honored as the 2026 Men's Field Assistant Coach of the Year when the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2026 Regional Award winners for the Indoor Track and Field season this week.
"Ciera has been a tremendous addition to the staff," said SVSU head track and field coach Rod Cowan. "After completing her eligibility as a proud Cardinal, she left the university for a few years. When the position became open, I didn't expect her to be interested. To my surprise, this has been an opportunity she's wanted for herself. She's a tireless worker, and her efforts make our program better! Her teaching style and ability to build relationships are assets for developing student-athletes. This is just the beginning!"
Weber played a crucial role in coaching Sawyer Moloy and Xavier Santiago to top-four finishes in the men's high jump at the NCAA DII Indoor Championships. Moloy was crowned the National Champion after tying a program record of 2.20m in his first attempt. Santiago earned a fourth-place finish in the event to collect First Team All-America honors. The two accounted for 15 of the Cardinals' 19 team points, helping them finish 10th overall.
Each of the eight regions honored top track and field athletes as well as the top men's and women's head coaches and assistant coaches for the 2026 Indoor season.
Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches following the conclusion of the 2026 NCAA DII Track and Field Indoor Championships.
