Jacob Walker Earns All-America on Day One of NCAA D2 Outdoor Championships

EMPORIA, Kan. – Saginaw Valley State junior Jacob Walker (Jerome, Mich. / Columbia Central Senior HS) earned All-America on the first day of the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday night.

Walker finished seventh in the 10K with a time of 29 minutes and 35.94 seconds. The finish was a slight improvement on his seeding, as he entered the week with the eighth-fastest 10K time in D2.

The first-time All-American is the first of four Cardinal men's student-athletes competing in the outdoor championships. Walker will have another shot at claiming his second All-America honor on Saturday when he runs the 5K race scheduled for 7:55 p.m. (ET).

UP NEXT: Xavier Santiago and Sawyer Moloy will compete in the men's high jump tomorrow, Friday, May 22, at 4:30 p.m. (ET). Santiago has the second-highest clearance in D2 at 2.19m. Moloy enters the competition tied for seventh-best at 2.14m. Moloy won the Indoor National Championship in the High Jump back in  March after clearing the bar at 2.20m.
