UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw
Valley State women’s basketball team lost this afternoon
(Jan. 31) to the University of Findlay, 80-67, extending
SVSU’s losing streak to six games.
The Cardinals were led by senior point guard Tricia Everett
(Saginaw, Mich.) with a game-high 22 points and five steals, with
junior forward Kelsey Mausolf (Port Hope, Mich.) knocking in 12.
Freshman guard Marah Kyle (Bluffton, Ind.) chipped in with nine
points.
The Cardinals kept the contest close for most of the game, but
SVSU could not stay out of foul trouble down the stretch and sent
the Oilers to the line where Findlay was able to convert 23-of-28
attempts.
The loss drops the Cardinals’ record to 2-17 overall and
1-13 in the GLIAC, while Findlay improves to 11-8 overall and 6-8
in the GLIAC. SVSU will return to action at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 5 as the
Cardinals travel to Detroit to take on Wayne State University in
conference action.
