UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Coming off two
intense games, the Saginaw Valley State women’s basketball
team couldn’t keep the momentum up against Wayne State
tonight (Jan. 15) and lost 59-49.
The Cardinals were able to pull down a season high 46 rebounds on
the night, and were led on offense by freshman guard Marah Kyle
(Bluffton, Ind.) who sank 15 points, including going 2-for-6 from
behind the arch, and chipped in four steals on defense. Senior
point guard Tricia Everett notched 11 points on the night and
grabbed five steals and pulled down nine rebounds.
The loss drops the Cardinals’ record to 2-12 overall and 1-8
in the GLIAC, while Wayne State moves to 5-9 overall and 3-6 in the
GLIAC. Saginaw Valley will return to action at 1 p.m. Saturday
(Jan. 17) when GLIAC foe Northwood comes to Cardinals Country.
