SOMERS, Wis. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball team dropped a 79-60 contest to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers Monday evening (Nov. 30).
The Rangers took a 43-30 advantage into the locker room, leading by as much as 16 in the first half. In the second half, the closest SVSU got was within 13 points, which was 2:10 into the second frame.
Junior forward Brittany Burkhardt (West Bloomfield, Mich./Walled Lake Central HS) led the Lady Cardinals, being the only SVSU player to reach double-digits for the game, with 11 points. Junior guard Tasha Balls (Bridgeport, Mich./Buena Vista HS) was next for SVSU, contributing nine points. Freshman forward Jasmine Kennedy (Harper Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North HS) had eight points and six rebounds in the defeat.
Jadee Rooney was the game-high scorer for the Rangers, finishing with 18 points.
The loss evens the Lady Cardinals' record at 2-2 overall on the season, while Parkside improves to 4-1 overall on the season with the victory. SVSU will be in action again Thursday (Dec. 3), when it welcomes GLIAC foe University of Findlay for a 6:00 pm contest.
