FINDLAY, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball team was defeated by the University of Findlay today (Dec. 10), 76-50. The loss drops the Cardinals to 2-6 on the season and 1-2 in the GLIAC, while Findlay improves to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
Kristen Greene (Brown City, Mich.) earned Meijer "Player of the Game" honors, leading Saginaw Valley with a game-high 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting. Greene also went 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
The Cardinals fell behind early committing 18 turnovers in the first half as the Oilers took a 39-20 lead into the half. Greene scored 11 in the first half for Saginaw Valley.
SVSU would cut the Oiler lead to 44-30 with 15:30 to go in the second half on a layup by Marah Kyle (Bluffton, Ind.). However, Findlay would respond with a 10-0 run and eventually close out the Cardinals, 76-50. Kyle would finish the game with six points and two assists.
Cheritee Green (Wyoming Park, Mich.) recorded a game-high nine rebounds for Saginaw Valley.
As a team, the Cardinals knocked down 20-of-28 free throws on the afternoon.
The Lady Cardinals will return to action next Saturday (Dec. 17) when they travel to Lake Superior State for a 1:00 PM contest.
