UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valle State University women's basketball team completed a successful season on the court in 2020-21, reaching the GLIAC semifinals. The Cardinals also put together a tremendous year in the classroom, ranking among the top programs in the nation for GPA in 2020-21.
The Cardinals tied for 14th in the country among NCAA DII women's basketball programs with a combined GPA of 3.684 for the 2020-21 academic year, earning a spot on the WBCA Academic Top 25 list. "This team continues to pursue their best on and off the court," SVSU women's basketball head coach Jenny Pruett said. "They understand that although basketball is a huge part of their life right now, their academic journey is what is going to propel their future. We have very smart young women on our team who will succeed in any avenue they choose to go down. I am proud of their academic success and cannot wait to see what we do on the court this year."
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA, and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2020-21 season is the 26th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
