UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – the Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball's Lydia Meredith (Portland, Mich. / Portland St. Patrick's HS) was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. The Cardinals defeated Drury 62-54 last Tuesday with Meredith leading the charge on both sides of the ball.

The senior guard scored 20 points and hauled in 12 rebounds for a double-double. Her energy on the court led to three assists, three steals, and a block as well. Meredith shot 6-11 from the field and 1-2 from the three while knocking down seven of her eight free throw attempts.

This is Meredith's fourth GLIAC Player of the Week honor of her career and the first for SVSU women's basketball this year.

The team is in Hawaii this week, playing Gannon and Wingate on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Big Island Holiday Classic, hosted by Hawaii Hilo. Tip-off times are scheduled for 8:00 PM and 6:00 PM ET.
