WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. – Saginaw Valley State University women's golf started their spring season with a third-place finish out of eight teams at the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff hosted by Walsh. The Cardinals shot 991 (+127) through three rounds at the Saddlebrook Golf Resort, finishing in third out of eight teams and nine strokes ahead of No. 31 Bethel.
Andie Martin (New Boston, Mich. / Huron HS) led the team, tying for 12th out of 45, with a three-round total of 247 (+31). She shot two rounds of 82 (+10) and followed with an 83 (+11). Marissa GeRue (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Carroll HS) followed two strokes behind with a total of 249 (+33). GeRue tied for 14th, shooting two 86's (+14) and a team-best 77 (+5) on Thursday to finish.
Christina Nagy (Macedonia, Ohio / Nordonia HS) and Averie Pumford (Freeland, Mich. / Freeland HS) were the next two Cardinals as Nagy took 16th and Pumford tied for 17th. Nagy carded rounds of 86 (+14), 78 (+6), and 87 (+15) for a three-round total of 251 (+35). Pumford shot 81 (+9), 82 (+10), and 91 (+19) to finish with a 245 (+38) after the three days.
Alivia Ligrow (Pinckney, Mich. / Pinckney Community HS) and Mayson Southland (Mona Shores, Mich. / Mona Shores HS) rounded out the team. Ligrow started the spring with rounds of 91 (+19), 83 (+11), and 84 (+12) for a total of 249 (+42) while Southland carded two 101's (+29) and followed with a 91 (+19) for a three-round total of 293 (+77).
Pumford tied for a tournament best 3.08 average on par threes and GeRue was tied for third best, averaging 3.17 strokes per par three. Nagy was tied second-best in birdies with five. The team was second best on par threes with an average of 3.42 strokes per hole and carded the second-most birdies with 16 and third-most pars with 133.
