MIDLAND, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's tennis team fell to Northwood University 9-0 today (Sept. 9) in their second match of the season. The Cardinals fall to 0-2 overall and in the GLIAC while Northwood improves to 2-0 overall and in the conference.
Sophomore Annessa Campian (Troy, Mich.) fought tough in the first set but ultimately lost in No. 3 singles, 6-3 and 6-0. Junior Yunjiao Shangguan (Chengdu, China/Shiyang HS) battled hard in her No. 1 singles match, but ended up short, losing 6-1 and 6-2.
The SVSU tennis team will return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 13) as they host Grand Valley State University in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference match at 2:00 pm.
