DETROIT, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's tennis team fell to Wayne State University 9-0 today (Sept. 23). The Cardinals fall to 0-4 overall and in the GLIAC while Wayne State improves to 6-0 overall and in the conference.
Sophomore Annessa Campian (Troy, Mich.) fought tough in the her No. 5 singles match losing the first set before bouncing back to win the second 6-3. Campian ultimately fell in the third set, 10-3. The Cardinals No. 1 doubles team made up of Yunjiao Shangguan (Chengdu, China/Shiyang HS) and Meghan Woody (Midland, Mich./Dow HS) battled the Warrior's top tandem the entire match eventually falling by a 9-7 count.
The SVSU tennis team will return to action tomorrow (Sept. 24) as they visit the University of Findlay in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference match at 11:00 am.
