Cardinals defeated by Eagles, 7-2

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's tennis team fell today (Oct. 1) to Ashland University in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference match by a score of 7-2.

Junior Yunjiao Shangguan (Chengdu, China/Shiyang HS) gave the Cardinals their first point, winning 7-5, 0-6, 10-8 in No. 1 singles.  Junior Theresa Frederick (Saginaw, Mich./Bay City Western HS) would grab  Saginaw Valley's second point, winning 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 in her No. 6 singles match.  

The team of Annessa Campian(Troy, Mich./Troy HS) and Wong would have a tight match, losing by a score of 8-5 in No. 2 doubles with the team of Bobbi Enos (Almont, Mich./Almont HS) and Kaite Piokowski (Essexville, Mich./Garber HS) also losing 8-5.

The Cardinals will return to action at Michigan Tech next Friday (Oct. 7) when they face the Huskies for an 11:00 am match.
