MIDLAND, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's tennis team fell to Northwood University 5-0 today (Oct. 21) in their first round of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference Tennis Tournament. 

The team of Meghan Woody (Midland, Mich./Dow HS) and Yunjiao Shangguan (Chengdu, China/Shiyang HS) would try to start the Cardinals off strong but would eventually fall in the first match of the evening 8-3 in No. 1 doubles.  Also hoping to grab a point in No. 3 doubles before losing 8-1 in a hard fought match would be the duo of Bobbi Enos (Almont, Mich./Almont HS) and Katie Piorkowski (Essexville, Mich./Garber HS).  Charlotte Wong (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island/Colonel Gray Senior High) would also play a tough match before losing to her opponent 6-2, 6-0 in No. 4 singles. 

With the loss, the Cardinals have been scheduled to play Ferris State University tomorrow (Oct. 22) at 4 pm where they hope to advance in the tournament.
