Cardinals Finish Seventh With Victory Over Panthers, 5-4

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University Women's Tennis team ended their season strong today (Oct. 23), by defeating Ohio Dominican University 5-4. Freshman Meghan Woody (Midland, Mich./Dow HS) won her No. 2 singles match in the deciding third set to clinch seventh place for the Cardinal tennis squad.

The Cardinals would receive their first point of the match when Bobbi Enos (Almont, Mich./Almont HS) and Katie Piorkowski (Essexville, Mich./Garber HS) defeated their opponents in No. 3 doubles 8-4.  Their next win would come from freshman Meghan Woody (Midland, Mich./Dow HS) who won her No. 2 singles match 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.  Enos would grab another point for the Cardinals in her No. 4 singles match winning 6-4, 6-4.  Right behind her would be Annessa Campian (Troy, Mich./Troy HS) defeating her No. 5 singles opponent 6-2, 6-1 and Theresa Frederick (Saginaw, Mich./Bay City Western HS) winning her No. 6 singles match 0-6, 6-4, 6-3. 

With the win, the Cardinals finish in 7th place for the GLIAC tournament and a 6-9 record overall.
