Shangguan Selected First-Team All-GLIAC

BAY CITY, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) released their 2011 season awards today (Oct. 25), announcing Saginaw Valley State University's women's tennis student-athlete Yunjiao Shangguan (Chengdu, China/Shiyang) has been named to the 2011 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) women's tennis First-Team All-GLIAC. The Cardinals finished the 2011 season with a record of 6-9 and finished in seventh place in the GLIAC Tournament.

Shangguan led the Cardinals in the No. 1 singles position as she went 5-6 on the season against the top players in the conference. She also helped her No. 1 doubles team to a 6-9 record with help from partner Meghan Woody (Midland, Mich./Dow HS). This marks the second consecutive year in which Shangguan has received the First-Team All-GLIAC honor.

Woody received GLIAC recognition as she was named Honorable Mention in her freshman season. Meghan finished the fall campaign with a 6-7 record playing in the No. 2 singles position against many tough opponents. Woody also finished with a 6-9 doubles record with teammate Shangguan playing in the No. 1 doubles slot.
