ALLENDALE - The Saginaw Valley State University women's tennis team had multiple singles and doubles matches on Friday (9/26) at the 2014 ITA Regional Tournament, hosted by Grand Valley State University.
Competing in the "A" Singles Main Draw, Izabella Ismailova advanced to the Round of 16 after posting a pair of victories. She was victorious in her first match by a score of 6-0, 6-2 and claimed the second win over Northwood's Olesia Riabchuk by scores of 7-6 (2), 6-3.
In the "B" Singles Main Draw, Abigail Shonk had a 6-1, 6-0 win over Tiffin's Lynsie Allen before falling to Grand Valley's Morgan Patterson.
Lauren Sharp and Danielle Slonac had fine showings in the same draw, both posting a pair of victories eash. Sharp defeated Walsh's Alisha Angle (2-6, 7-6 (4), 10-2) and Findlay's Kiara Shaw (6-0, 6-1) while Slonac was victorious over the Oilers' Viktoriya Shkola (7-5, 2-1 ret) and Wayne State's Lauren Hughes (6-4, 6-2).
Sharp joined Shea Donahue for a "B" Doubles Main Draw 8-4 victory over Tiffin's Rachelmary Brozovich and Andrea Alaniz. The pair would fall in the next round, however to the tandem of Morgan Patterson and Aimee Moccia from GVSU.
Erin Doud and Meghan Woody would get an 8-1 victory in the "A" Doubles Consolation Draw while Shonk and Mikayla Kazdan were victorious, 8-5 in the "B" Doubles Consolation Draw.
Matches are set to get underway at 8:00 am on Saturday morning.
