Ismailova carried her steady play over into singles competition, where she played at the #1 spot. Her match made it to the third set with her dropping the first 4-6 and winning the second 6-1. Ismailova would grind out a key 10-7 tiebreaker victory to improve to 2-1 on the young season in singles play.
"The team effort today was excellent," said head coach Jenn Boehm. "We battled in doubles, almost coming away with two points. The intensity and fight we showed was impressive. Going into singles, we felt confident and positive but unfortunately we didn't come out with the wins we needed. I am very proud of how these girls competed and know we can carry the confidence into tomorrow's match and have a better result."
Next up on the GLIAC slate for Saginaw Valley (1-2, 1-2 GLIAC) is a trip to Ferris State University (2-0, 2-0 GLIAC) on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
