UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University women's tennis head coach Jenn Boehm announced that three student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Cardinals beginning in Fall 2016.

"We are very excited to add these three young women to our program," said Boehm. "They are each strong students in the classroom and experienced competitors on the court."

"They each bring something a little different to our team, which will help with our overall competitiveness. All three of them are Michigan natives and have tremendous family support, which is a key element of our team energy during matches."

Taylor McLaughlin, a senior at Eisenhower High School, is currently ranked No. 15 in the state of Michigan according to tennisrecruiting.net. She played number two singles on her high school team last season, and qualified for the Division I State Finals. Taylor plans to get her degree in education at SVSU.

Coach Boehm on Taylor McLaughlin...

"Taylor is a strong baseline player, but really has the potential to become an all-court threat. She's left-handed, which can be challenging to adapt to for many opponents. We're excited to help take her game to the next level."

Maddie Miller, a senior at Brighton High School, is also currently ranked by tennisrecruiting.net at No. 25 in Michigan. She competes at number one singles and qualified individually for the Division I State Finals by beating the number one seed at the regional tournament. Maddie will pursue an engineering degree at SVSU.

Coach Boehm on Maddie Miller...

"Maddie had several impressive wins in the last six months or so, including against a future Big Ten player. She has great athleticism, a big serve and it's clear she has not peaked yet. We're excited to see her impact in our program."

Samantha Perkins, a senior at Mason High School, currently plays number two singles for her team. She's an experienced USTA player and also has qualified twice for the Division II State Finals, making it as far as the semi-finals. Samantha plans to sudy pre-pharmacy at SVSU.

Coach Boehm on Samantha Perkins...

"Samantha is an aggressive baseliner with an especially big forehand. She likes to dictate points, but is also working hard to add more variety to her game. That will definitely make her tough to beat. We look forward to seeing her elevate her game at the collegiate level."
