GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The SVSU women's tennis team dropped a close match on Sunday afternoon, falling at Davenport by a final score of 5-4 at the MVP Sports Plex in Grand Rapids.
The Panthers, ranked 16th in the NAIA, got out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play. The lone SVSU win came at the no. 2 position, as Izabella Ismailova and Danielle Slonac claimed a 9-8 tiebreaker victory.
The Cardinals posted victories as the no. 3 through no. 5 singles slots. At three singles, Shea Donahue posted a 6-2, 6-4 win. In four singles, Erin Doud was a 6-0, 6-4 winner and at the five position, Slonac was victorious 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Ismailova's match went three sets as well but she would end up falling by scores of 3-6, 6-3, 1-6.
Saginaw Valley wraps-up the season Sunday (Apr. 10) when the Cardinals travel to play Lewis University in a 10:00 a.m. match.
